The best bands bring together outstanding individual artists to form a unique musical alchemy. The Duhks - with beginnings in the North American folk music stronghold on Edmonton, Alberta - perform music that reflect roots music traditions from north and south of the Canadian border. From Leonard Podolak's bluegrass banjo and Tania Elizabeth's fine fiddle to Scott Senior's interest in Latin American rhythms and Jordan McConnell's skilled guitar work in a wide range of styles, the band continually demonstrates a desire to expand, rather than restrict, their sound. The addition of Sarah Dugas, a gifted French-Canadian singer who first performed with her family as a young girl and now is known as a member of Madrigaia, only gives the Duhks more tools to work with in their quest for world music domination. The band has one JUNO win and two additional nomination in the Roots & Traditional Album of the Year category and was nominated in 2006 for a Grammy Award in the Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal category for work on their Tim O'Brien-produced Migrations CD.
This concert was recorded live at the Kent Stage on Sept. 7, 2007 by contributing producer Craig Adams.
