 Corinne West proudly calls her performance style "Americana," the newly popular genre that brings together a mix of old-time and traditional musical forms (folk, western, bluegrass and true country). Although West now calls San Francisco home, she left her heart in the beautiful mountains of Northern California, where she worked as a fine artist before turning her attention to music full time. With her first album, Bound for the Living, West pulled together a backing band made of Nina Gerber (a frequent collaborator with the late Kate Wolf) and members of The Waybacks. On the road, she maintains a feeling of freedom and spontaneity by using local musicians along the way. West's new album, due out soon, was produced by mandolin master Mike Marshall and includes Jerry Douglas on the list of guest musicians.
Special guest in the Folk Alley studio - David Mayfield. Mayfield got his start in Northeast Ohio performing as "Bass Boy" with his family bluegrass band, One Way Rider. He has since established himself as a talented songwriter, producer and wicked-fast player who is developing a national reputation for his talent on a variety instruments.
